What is EnveloPrinter?
EnveloPrinter is a program designed to do one thing only: allow use
of your Amiga-compatible printer in printing envelopes. It allows a
large degree of customization, and use of the special styles of your
printer in an easy-to-use way. Among its features:
o
Automatic home-address default and load
o
Easy-to-use mouse and menu interface
o
Support of any Amiga printer supported via Preferences
o
Custom screen and window to reduce Workbench clutter
o
Custom envelope widths in INCHES, not characters
o
Full margin centering and error-checking
o
Independent style preferences for home and send addresses
o
Takes only about 50K of memory while running
o
Entry of next address allowable during print process
o
Requesters help identify errors or problems
How do I run EnveloPrinter?
To use, simply type "run EnveloPrint" at any CLI or Shell prompt,
or double-click on its Workbench icon (No arguments are read from the
Workbench, however). The custom screen will appear, along with all the
string gadgets. The program will attempt to load your home address from
the file "
S:HomeAddress.default
". If it can not find it, you will
be notified. The first time you run it, of course, it will not find the
defaults file.
How do I set my defaults file?
You can set the defaults file by typing in your name and address in
the areas provided. Your address consists of four lines:
Name:_____________________________________________
Address 1:_____________________________________________
Address 2:_____________________________________________
City & State:_____________________________________________
Use the Address 2 line only if you need an extra line for your
apartment number or similar information.
Any
blank lines will not
be printed during the printing process.
How do I set the styles?
There are two menus in EnveloPrinter. The first contains all the
actions in the program (except for printing), and the second contains
the preferences for styles. The second menu contains three submenus:
Home Address
,
Send Address
, and
Pitch
. The
Home
and
Send Address
menus
allow you to modify the print style of the home and sending addresses
respectively. The
Pitch
menu changes the pitch for the entire
envelope, and must be the same for both addresses.
What does the Envelope Width gadget do?
The Envelope Width gadget allows you to specify the width of the
envelope in tenths of an inch, to allow custom centering and margin
checking. This allows you to use custom envelopes. Common values are 65
and 95, for 6.5" and 9.5" envelopes.
How do I print?
Selecting the
Print
gadget will begin the printing process, but will
leave you free for entering the next address. You may not quit or abort,
but any errors in printing will abort the process.
What should I do if EnveloPrinter is useful to me?
DONATIONS!
Any donations, monetary or software (please, public
domain only!) will be greatly appreciated. If you wish, let me know of
any suggestions or gripes you have, and I will try my hardest to
incorporate them into the next version of
EnveloPrinter
.
